We are parents and individuals who live the life of a single parent or understand how challenging it is for these families. We decided to establish the non-profit organization JEDEN RODIČ because we want to bring positive change for single parents and their children.
We are the first and only organization that helps families where only one parent is present in raising the children. The other parent has moved out, divorced and does not equally share in raising the children, does not acknowledge the child, or has passed away.
Mission
Our mission is to support single-parent families.
We aim to improve the lives of single parents and their children through real assistance and by advocating for better conditions in Slovakia’s social system and society as a whole.
We want parents and children in these families to live safe, fulfilling, dignified, and happy lives. We stand for a society where single parents and their children are treated fairly.

Goals
- Shorten this difficult life period so that children and parents can start anew.
- Improve and enhance the living conditions of single-parent households.
- Minimize any negative impacts on the life and well-being of children growing up in single-parent families.
- Create centers where single parents and their children can come for help and meet regularly.
- Launch an online platform through which parents can learn, access information, and download applications.
- Advocate for changes in Slovakia’s social system.
- Legally recognize the term single parent—raising one or more dependent children—who deserves increased attention from the state and public institutions due to a higher risk of poverty and social exclusion.
